Gerrit was born and raised in Hamburg, Germany. He started playing classical guitar at the age of 6. When he turned 11, he started writing songs and playing in bands.
While going through various roles in numerous bands of diverse genres, he also picked up playing Bass, Drums, and Keyboard playing mostly his own material.
After years of extensive travel, he moved back from San Francisco to Hamburg in 2009 where lives and works today. His works are touched and influenced by Pop, Rock, Jazz, the 80s, Electro, Hip-Hop, and Classical Music.
It is Gerrits strong believe that any meaningful song is a unique blend of deep lyrics and melodic tunes. In his mind music should not attempt to deliver a one-size-fits-all picture or opinion to everyone. Great music delivers the fabric that becomes the canvas where we project our own images, dreams and emotions. And create our own imagination.
To encapsulate every detail of the moment that triggered the creation of each piece, he writes and arranges all of his music himself. No covers. No copywriters. No fakes.
Being a multi-instrumentalist for years, he also plays every instrument on his recordings to deliver the unaltered, vivid timbre of the moment of inception.
While he stays active in multiple projects like the German multi-genre band Endorphil, he continues to release music under his own name and label. In 2016 he rewrote and compiled material from his years "on the road" to release the cross-genre album A QUARTER LATE.
Since Gerrit is an industry expert in digital, media, and music (and has been CEO of multiple companies in this space), he is a frequent speaker at international conferences such as the Reeperbahn Festival.
